Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role
This role is part of the Review and Improvement Services (RIS) group and reports to the Toki Ngao Tū / Manager Review and Improvement Services.
The focus of the role is to:
- evaluate the quality of education provided by schools, including the quality of teaching and learning through the provision of te reo Māori
- support improvement through evaluation
- prepare high-quality reports that are made available to the public
The ideal applicant will be based in Auckland or Gisborne, although location may be flexible for the right person.

WE WANT YOU if you have…
- extensive knowledge of Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and The New Zealand
Curriculum
- a deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its implications for the education sector and ERO
- strong knowledge of effective pedagogical practices in Māori medium immersion and English medium settings
- experience working in Māori medium immersion settings within English medium schools
- experience in senior education leadership roles that included using evaluation to guide improvement
- effective communication skills in te reo Māori and English, both written and oral

Salary and benefits
Starting salary: $102,443 + superannuation
